Gearbox types automatic selection. I think gearbox type (ie automatic or h-shifter) should be set by game automatically, depending what gearbox is used in the current truck. Maybe "simple automatic" and "sequencial" can be even removed completely. ATS is a simulator game, and in reality there is no such transmission types. Those are arcade things.
They are crawler gears, that you only use with heavy trailer, or on an incline. Without any trailer or pulling a light load, you avoid 1C and 2C and use 1 directly. The automatic gearbox in the game barely even use these crawler gears. TL;DR: 1C and 2C are not 1st gear and 2nd gear, there is no logical reasons to remove them.
SchSandor • 3 yr. ago. In ETS2 I use automated, as every modem truck here has an automated transmission. In my opinion using a manual with those trucks is unrealistic, as there are almost no new trucks sold with a manual. When using mods of older trucks I use clutch and shifter.
Simple automatic uses a lot of air, and there is no way of running the engine in high RPM to rapidly recharge the high pressure air cyllinder. So, if the high pressure air is depleted, it takes over half an hour to get enough pressure to move off into the system.
Why Clutch in sequential gearbox is for those who what "sim" a manual Gearbox without H-shifter (an additinal Pedal is way cheaper than a H-shifter) But the beneficial of H-shifter in ETS is largely because it can skip Gear (for me operat a "ZF16" style, most of the time just Low to Low, High Gear only for fine tune at different speed of cruising)
A retarder helps you brake. If a gearbox has R in the description then it has a retarder (normally most expensive gearbox). In the 250 + hrs i have on this game i have driven the whole time on auto box and never worried about things like this. Ignore it, choose auto, ie forward - neutral - reverse and thats it far as im concerned.
Beneficial is up to the operator. Something manual over Automatic is better imo. For example, there's a hill in Germany that, whenever I go up it in Automatic and have to stop for whatever reason, the truck shifts up when it should hold the gear. As soon as it shifts, the truck bogs down and it's no good.
